An Auspcious Day for a Haircut

2022

This project uses the facsimile of a daily calendar to express themes of nostalgia, memories, and cultural memory. I chose the kind of daily calendar that my paternal grandparents still use back in China. This type of calendar has daily fortunes with the "lucky" and "unlucky" forecasts for the day. The illustrations are scattered throughout the year, on days and events that are important to my life.

Land Aknowledgement

With deep respect and gratitude I aknowledge that I live, work and play on the traditional territories of the Blackfoot Confederacy (Siksika, Kainai, Piikani), the Tsuut’ina, the îethka Nakoda Nations (Chiniki, Bearspaw, Goodstoney), the Otipemisiwak Métis Government (Districts 5 and 6), and all people who make their homes in the Treaty 7 region of Southern Alberta.
